Soundscape’s Inverse Advent 09: Nihil Mortum – Aletheia

Ok I’m still in time to post this on the correct day! I’ve been quite ill the past few days and I overslept this morning so pretty much had to go straight from my bed to work. But I’m here and ready to write about day 9!

Day 09: Nihil Mortum – Aletheia
I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly, but there’s something about this album that has piqued my interest. It’s fairly standard black metal with a bit of melody peppered in for good measure, and I’ve heard countless Finnish bands doing this exact thing, but Nihil Mortum do it pretty well.

I particularly like later track Cursed Decade. It has this really hypnotic repeating riff that seems destined to be stuck in my head; it’s a pretty enjoyable track and I’ll definitely come back for a relisten of this one.

Track recommendation: Cursed Decade
