Stinky – Of Lost Things Review

Release date: 12th June 2020

I do love hearing releases that clearly have a lot of passion behind the performance, so Of Lost Things by Stinky is a definite treat. Perhaps best described as melodic hardcore, Stinky go all out with their latest effort Of Lost Things and it’s a very relentless bit of work.

Not wasting any time, Stinky get right to it with opener Revival Fire, almost-immediately hitting you with a wall of noise courtesy of the vocals and drums. The in-your-face approach shows they mean business, forcing you to pay attention and drawing you in as they power through each track. Another highlight is fourth track Strangers With Unfamiliar Faces, which features a really stunning clean vocal-led chorus. (And speaking of which, the band also treat you to a nice little bonus in the form of an unplugged version of their track Rough Diamond – which is stunning to say the least, and gives a new spin on the already-great electric version of it.)

My only complaint is that some of the songs follow the exact same format, so at times it’s a little difficult to differentiate between where one track ends and another begins – but as a whole, Of Lost Things is a solid release you can’t help but keep coming back to.

7/10
