Tenside – Come Alive Dying Review

Release date: 19th January 2024

Tenside is a band that has been about for a while, since 2007 in fact, so I’m a little surprised that Come Alive Dying has served as my introduction to the band. This is a release that is exactly up my street, and after hearing it I definitely feel a dive into this talented band’s back-catalogue is in order.

Come Alive Dying is a great blend of aggression and melody; I love a good sing-along chorus but I also adore the heavier side of things too. Tenside seem to have the balance just right, and it’s an album I’ve kept coming back to as a result of that. Impending Doom is a particularly strong inclusion; beginning with a chugging riff that seamlessly blends into some wonderfully powerful vocals that are followed by an absolutely massive-sounding chorus. (It also features John Henry from Darkest Hour, which is even more reason to love the track!)

Vengeance, the penultimate song, is also another song worthy of a closer look. It has this majestic feeling to it, and is almost like a mini-epic. There’s a lot of emotion in the vocal performance especially, which is delivered in a solely harsh style that really works for the song’s vibe as a whole.

Come Alive Dying is big and bold; a strong effort from the band that instantly leaves me wanting more – but luckily for me, I have their whole back-catalogue to get acquainted with! This is an album not to be missed.
