The Chant – Approacher Review

the chant approacherI’m always eager to hear new material from The Chant, because they have an uncomparable beautiful atmospheric feeling and vibe to their sound, and their new EP Approacher is another tremendous addition to their discography – in fact, it could be one of their strongest releases yet.

Featuring four very substantial tracks that will certainly leave a lasting impression on you, The Chant have crafted a beautiful listen that will give you goosebumps from start to finish. The opening track Unsolved sets the scene magnificently, adding a lot of atmosphere and ambience to the piece, and following track To Surrender adds a little more momentum, featuring an empowered and passionate vocal performance, particularly in the chorus, and although the pace isn’t something you’d class as fast (especially in the latter half, where the track becomes a little more ambient), there sure is a lot of momentum to it.

Third and penultimate track Approacher is perhaps my favourite of the four, so it’s no surprise that this was chosen as the title track. There’s a little more of an electronic vibe to the song, with melodies that will certainly get stuck in your head. Additionally, when the full band joins in about halfway through, it really helps the track to make an impact and means it packs a real punch as a result. Meanwhile closing track To Be Seen is a great conclusion to the EP, rounding things up nicely by bringing earlier elements of the piece together, and it really gives Approacher a triumphant finale.

The Chant have crafted something special with Approacher – now here’s hoping we can expect more along the same lines when it comes to their next full-length!
