The Passion Of Our Souls – Soulmates Review

THE PASSION OF OUR SOULS - Soulmates cover art 425wWhen a band’s genre is described as “melodic death/pop metal”, it’s never just going to be your standard listen and The Passion Of Our Souls is a band that has crafted their own sound in the best possible way with their brand new EP Soulmates.

Vocalist Julia Mattia has a phenomenal set of pipes on her; effortlessly switching between harsh and clean vocals and performing both styles to a very high standard which is a rare feat as generally excel more at one style than the other. Additionally the instrumentation, which is performed entirely by Samuli Tuomas Mäkelä, is something to behold. The sheer wall of sound that gets projected at you is awesome, and it somehow managed to sound magnificently organised in the process.

Give Me Your Soul is perhaps the strongest track of the EP. The melodic vocals are memorably catchy and easy to sing along to, and the harsh vocals coupled by the riff-heavy guitar line will get you banging your head in no time at all – and definitely seems like a song that will go down an absolute storm in a live environment!

The Passion Of Our Souls are onto a winner with Soulmates and it bodes well for future releases from this band because the EP reeks of potential – this is a band worth keeping an eye on.
