Young Guns – Bones Review

Young Guns  – Bones

9/10

The UK rock scene right now is really diverse and strong, just look at bands like Deaf Havana, lostprophets, You Me At Six and Bring Me The Horizon having all released great albums recently and ‘Bones’, the second album by Young Guns definitely lives up to this. It is a straight ahead, huge sounding rock album with touches of New Wave and Classic Rock bombast, and it works, it REALLY works. Lead single ‘Learn My Lesson’ is an absolute monster of a tune and is a great indication of what to expect from ‘Bones’. Produced by former SikTh guitarist Dan Weller the album sounds fantastic. There really isn’t a poor track here, ‘Dearly Departed’, the current single, and ‘Bones’ are good examples of the impressive songwriting capabilities of the band. They slow it down a bit on the very short ‘A Hymn For All I’ve Lost’ but lose none of the bands intensity. Final track ‘Broadfields’ can really only be described as epic, a huge song with both light, haunting and dark, heavy passages. A very fitting end to this excellent album.
