When it comes to music from North Wales, Zebedy is definitely one of the bands you need to have on your radar because not only do they create awesome music, they also have a fantastic live show to go with them, so when they announced a show in Holyhead, I decided to make the trip up there to catch them live again. Needless to say, they did not disappoint.
The set was a good mix of all their material, spanning from their Exist album right through to a brand new song and even two covers, including a stunning rendition of Biffy Clyro’s 57. Zebedy had the balance just right as they didn’t favour one particular release over the other, and it made for a refreshing and engaging set as a result. The performance as a whole was fairly tight, with a nice relaxed vibe onstage as members joked good-heartedly with themselves and others in the room between songs, and it just made things flow all the more smoothly.
Some great points of the night included an energetic rendition of their song You Can’t Fake It, and Marionette is always a joy to see live, but the highlight of the night came in the form of their brand new and as-of-yet untitled song. Playing on the band’s strengths, it was a fantastic blend of heaviness and melody – and I for one can’t wait for the recorded version!
It’s always a pleasure seeing Zebedy live – and it was another great show from the fourpiece. If you aren’t familiar with the band yet, then this is something that you really need to rectify!
